Community Outreach & Public Awareness
If government leaders and planners want to reach aggressive emissions reduction and sustainability targets, they need buy-in and cooperation from community members, as well as government employees. That’s why outreach and communications efforts have become critical for educating people and inspiring behavioral changes.
During recent years, most people have heard the term “green” many times. They most likely relate it to recycling, planting trees, or using CFL bulbs. But much of the population isn’t truly familiar with sustainability. They are unaware of all the easy and inexpensive ways to conserve energy. They don’t know how doing so can benefit the planet and themselves. And… they are not aware of the many beneficial programs available to them like free energy audits, rebate programs, revolving loan programs, federal tax credits and Energy Star programs.
